Barnes and Steel Win Net and Gross Divisions at Four-Ball Tournament

Kayla Barnes of Bellevue and Kylie Steel of Elkhorn won both the Net and Gross Divisions of the 2023 NWAGA Four-Ball Tournament at Champions Run in Omaha. The duo won the Net Division (-20) by 14 shots and the Gross Division (-15) by 23 shots. Round two was delayed three hours because of weather. Merchandise payouts were awarded to the top third of finishers in the Net Division. Link to scoring above for complete details.

Entrant must be a member of NWAGA. Entrant must also be a resident of Nebraska (see below) with an up-to-date USGA Handicap Index® issued by a “member club” of the Nebraska Golf Association. All players must conform to the Rules of Amateur Status as approved by the United States Golf Association and The R&A.

An individual is considered a resident of Nebraska if they: a) maintain either a primary or a secondary residence in Nebraska, or b) are an active duty member of the United States Military stationed in Nebraska, or c) are a student physically attending college in Nebraska within a time period four-months prior to the event, or d) are a graduate of a Nebraska high school attending an out-of-state college. If these criteria are in question, the NWAGA Tournament Committee shall render any final decision. 

Handicaps: The NWAGA Handicap Committee requires that all participants in NWAGA tournaments have a minimum of 10 acceptable scores posted within 12 months of the registration deadline.

Limited to 54 sides (108 players).

All sides must file an online entry application. Entry fee of $300 must be paid by every side. Entry fee will be refunded regardless of reason if NWAGA is notified (402-505-4653, ext. 102 or via e-mail at before the close of entries. After the close of entries, fee will be refunded in the event of medical condition, if requested before the first day of competition. No refund for any reason after that day. A $30 service charge will be deducted from all refunds. Entry includes 36-holes of competition; cart; prizes; player dinner and awards luncheon.

Entries open at 8:00 a.m. CDT on Thursday, June 1, 2023. Entries must be received by NWAGA no later than 5:00 p.m. CDT on Wednesday, July 5, 2023. If the competition receives more than the maximum number of entries by 12:00 p.m. CDT on June 1, a drawing will be used to determine the field and wait list order. If the tournament does not receive more than the maximum number of entries by 12:00 p.m. CDT on June 1, the field will be determined by order of entry. Entries may be accepted after the deadline, if field is not full, at the discretion of NWAGA. Partner substitutions may be made prior to competition.

The maximum handicap index permitted for this event is 40.4. Golfers whose handicap index exceeds 40.4 will be reduced to the 40.4 maximum.


The tournament will consist of 36-holes of Four-Ball stroke play (both gross and net). In Four-Ball, two players compete together as a side, with each playing their own ball. The side’s score for a hole is the lower score of the two.

All sides will compete in both Gross and Net Divisions.

The Four-Ball tournament is not Flighted. Sides will compete against all other sides in both the Gross Division and Net Division.

Based on July 5 Handicap Revision. An individual’s Playing Handicap is 85% of their Course Handicap.

A side’s combined Handicap Index will determine round one shotgun starting position with the lowest combined Handicap Indexes starting on hole 1. For the final round of competition, sides will be grouped by round one net score with the leading sides starting on hole 1.

Caddies are not permitted.

Players must be neat in appearance with respect to clothing and personal grooming. Traditional spikes are prohibited. Model Local Rule G-7.

All ties for will be broken by scorecard playoff using the USGA method of comparing scores.

NWAGA will post scores for handicap purposes.

Practice Rounds
A single practice round is available for an individual fee of $70 (includes cart) during the times noted below. Tee times can be made up to 5 days in advance by calling the golf shop at 402-498-8989. Practice round availability: June 21, after 10 a.m.; June 23, 24 or 25, after 2 p.m.; June 28, after 10 a.m.; June 29, before 10 a.m. or after 3 p.m.; June 30, July 1, 2 or 3, after 2 p.m.; July 6, before 10 a.m. or after 3 p.m.; July 7, 8 or 9, after 2 p.m.

Because of the large number of lodging options available in Omaha there are no hotel arrangements made for this tournament.

Digital Scoring
It is required that one individual from each group enter hole scores for players in that group following each hole using the Golf Genius mobile app. Instructions for downloading the app will be included in pre-event material provided to players following the deadline.

Gross: Overall Low Gross: Trophy plates.
