2021 Founders Scholarship

NWAGA will distribute $1,000 dollar scholarships to female Nebraska High School Seniors who have played high school golf and are furthering their education at a 2-year, 4-year, or a technical school in Nebraska. One scholarship will be awarded to an applicant in each NWAGA region (Eastern Nebraska, Central Nebraska and Western Nebraska) with the remaining scholarships awarded regardless of region. Those eligible are Female Nebraska High School Seniors who have played high school golf and are furthering their education at a 2-year, 4-year, or technical school in Nebraska. 2021 Founders Scholarship Recipients

NWAGA is pleased to honor its recipients of the 2021 Founders Scholarships: Baylee Steele of North Platte, Graycee Oeltjen of Broken Bow, Kailey Johnson of Beemer, Megan Lutt of Battle Creek and Shaylee Staack of Syracuse.  Each will be awarded a scholarship to continue their education in Nebraska.

Baylee Steele, North Platte

Bailey will graduate from North Platte High School in May. Steele was a member of the Nebraska Girls’ Four-State team as well as finishing Top 5 at Class A State Golf all four years. In addition to golf, Baylee maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout high school while serving on student council among other extracurricular activities. In the fall, she will be headed to University of Nebraska Omaha and plans to study Business Marketing.

Graycee Oeltjen, Broken Bow

Graycee will graduate from Broken Bow High School in May. Oeltjen was a member of the State Championship Golf and State Championship Cheerleading teams in 2020. In addition to athletics, she was accepted into All-State Show Choir in 2019 and currently serves as 4H President. In the fall, Graycee will be attending Nebraska Wesleyan University and plans to study Music Performance and Business.

Kailey Johnson, Beemer

Kailey will graduate from West Point Public Schools in May. In addition to golf, Johnson was a member of the Dance team and served on student council through high school. Academically, Kailey was on Principal’s Honor Roll each year and named Academic All-State Golf her sophomore through Senior year. In the fall, she will be attending Bryant College of Health Sciences to study Nursing.

Megan Lutt, Battle Creek

Megan will graduate from Battle Creek High School in May. Lutt was a member of the 3-time Class C State Golf qualifying team and was named Academic All-State Golf her sophomore through Senior year. In addition to athletics, Megan currently serves as Student Council President and is ranked first in her class academically. Lutt is currently deciding between Nebraska Wesleyan University or University or Nebraska-Kearney to study Biology.

Shaylee Staack, Syracuse

Shaylee will graduate from SDA High School in May. Throughout high school, Staack qualified for Class C State Golf her sophomore through senior year. She also was a Medalist at Class C State Golf in 2020. In addition to athletics, Shaylee was a member of Student Council and Students of Service where she volunteered at local food banks all four years. In the fall, she will be attending Peru State College to study Elementary Education.

Contribute to the Founders' Scholarship

Beginning in 2010, the Nebraska Women's Amateur Golf Association Board of Directors began the FundDay Monday event, to raise money for a scholarship. The Founders' Scholarship was created and has helped girls with their tuition, room and board, or books as they persue a college degree.
