2023 Founders Scholarships

NWAGA will distribute $2,000 scholarships to female Nebraska High School Seniors who have played high school golf and are furthering their education at a 2-year, 4-year, or a technical school in Nebraska. One scholarship will be awarded to an applicant in each NWAGA region (Eastern Nebraska, Central Nebraska and Western Nebraska) with the remaining scholarships awarded regardless of region. Those eligible are female Nebraska High School Seniors who have played high school golf and are furthering their education at a 2-year, 4-year, or technical school in Nebraska. 2022 Founders Scholarship Recipients

NWAGA is pleased to honor its recipients of the 2022 Founders Scholarships: Livia Hunke of Snyder, Haley Schroedl of Ainsworth, Kaylee Smith of Minden, Payton Wise of Kimball and Rachael Volin of Lincoln.  Each will be awarded a scholarship to continue their education in Nebraska.

Livia Hunke, Snyder

Livia will graduate from Guardian Angels Central Catholic in May. Hunke lettered on the varsity boys golf team every year throughout high school. In the classroom, Livia was named Lincoln Journal Star’s Academic All-State in basketball and softball. In the fall, she will be headed to University of Nebraska-Lincoln with plans to study Business.

Haley Schroedl, Ainsworth

Haley will graduate from Ainsworth High School in May. Schroedl was a member of the varsity golf team her sophomore through senior years. In addition to athletics, she maintained a 4.0 GPA and was ranked number one in her class. In the fall, Haley will be attending University of Nebraska Kearney and plans to study Nursing.

Kaylee Smith, Minden

Kaylee will graduate from Minden High School in May. In addition to golf, Smith earned a gold medal at the National STAR competition her sophomore and junior year. Academically, Kaylee was on Principal’s Honor Roll each year and named Academic All-State her junior year. In the fall, she will be attending Wayne State College to study Education.

Payton Wise, Kimball

Payton will graduate from Kimball High School in May. Wise was a 3-time golf district champion and holds her school record for lowest round (76) on the girls’ golf team. In addition to athletics, Payton serves on the Kimball Prevention Coalition. In the fall, Wise will attend Chadron State College to study Criminal Justice.

Rachael Volin, Lincoln

Rachael will graduate from Lincoln Lutheran High School in May. Volin was named NCPA Academic All-State her junior and senior years. In addition to athletics, Rachael served on the Lincoln Lutheran Community Outreach team from 2018 to 2021. In the fall, she will be attending University of Nebraska-Lincoln to study Professional Golf Management.

Contribute to the Founders' Scholarship

Beginning in 2010, the Nebraska Women's Amateur Golf Association Board of Directors began the Fund Day event, to raise money for a scholarship. The Founders' Scholarship was created and has helped girls with their tuition, room and board, or books as they pursue a college degree.
