Stevenson wins back to back

Cambridge -- The 2009 NWAGA Stroke Play Champion J.C. Stevenson from Grand Island does it again! Stevenson claimed the NWAGA Western title last year as well as this year. She carded a two day total of 141 (70-71) to finish the tournament three under at Cross Creek Golf Links in Cambridge. Two players, Susan Marchese and Armana Christianson, came in Tuesday, June 30th, with an impressive five under par round. Marchese of Omaha finished in second place with a two day total of 145 (76-69). Christianson of Omaha finished in third place with a two day total of 146 (77-69). The fair conditions allowed players to score some impressive rounds of golf.

2009 Junior Girls 4 State Team Champs
Kansas City, Missouri -- The 2009 Junior Four State Team made Nebraskans proud when they finished first at the Four-State Junior Girl's Competition at Mission Hills Country Club in Kansas City, Missouri. This is the first time since 2003 Nebraska has been able to bring the celebration back to the good life. On Thursday, June 25, the team was tied for first with Missouri. Nebraska had a team total of 335, Iowa 344, Kansas 342, and Missouri 335. The second day of competition Danielle Lemek came back and shot seven strokes better than the first day of competition. Lemek ended up beating a Missouri golfer Kate Gallagher in a one hole play-off. Lemek was crowned medalists for the event carding a two day total of 159 (83-76). Nebraska took home the glory with a two day total of 654 (335-319). Missouri followed with a two day total of 658 (335-323). Third place was Kansas shooting a 676 (342-334) two day total and finishing in fourth was Iowa. Iowa shot a two day total of 698 (344-354). Congratulations girls, we are all so proud of you!

2009 Match Play and Challenge
The 2009 Match Play and "NWAGA Challenge" opened on May 29th. Be sure to check out the Match Play Tournament page to get registered online or send in your entry form to the office. If you plan on using transportation in the Match Play Championship the fee is $15 not $10! We look forward to seeing you at the Championship. Entries for these events close on June 26th.
Reminder
Just a reminder to NWAGA members and non-members; All entrants must be members of the Association as of May 15 for tournaments held in May and June, as of June 15 for tournaments held in July and August, and as of August 1 for tournaments held in September. The membership must be received in the office on or before any date specified in order to play in any of the tournaments you may be interested in.
