2011 NWAGA Golfer of the Year

Omaha - NWAGA is proud to honor Kayla Knopik as the state Women's Amateur Golfer of the Year. A first time recipient, Knopik topped the NWAGA point standings with victories at both the State Stroke Play Championship and the Eastern Stroke Play Tournament. A semifinalist at the state match play championship Knopik tied for runner-up honors in qualifying before bowing out in 18-holes to eventual champion, Mary Narzisi of Omaha. Knopik is a senior at the University of Nebraska Lincoln where she also competes on the women's golf team. Congrats, Kayla!

2011 Woman's State Team

Savanah - The 2011 USGA Women's State Team Championship was held October 4-6 at The Landings Club in Savananah, Georgia. This event consists of three women from each state, including the District of Columbia, competing in three rounds of stroke play competition with a cut after the second round. Representing Nebraska this year was; Susan Marchese of Omaha, Jane Pohlman of Omaha, and J.C. Weaver of Grand Island. The team finished 33rd out of the 51 teams competing. The trio completed the event three spots higher than two years ago. Nice job ladies!

Just a reminder to NWAGA members and non-members; All entrants must be members of the Association as of May 15 for tournaments held in May and June, as of June 15 for tournaments held in July and August, and as of August 1 for tournaments held in September. The membership must be received in the office on or before any date specified in order to play in any of the tournaments you may be interested in.
